About CBD

What is CBD?

Cannabidiol (CBD) is a cannabinoid that is found in the hemp plant. The cannabinoid CBD specifically contains no psychoactive properties - meaning it wont make you high. Cannabinoids are found in many other plants too. Echinea, black pepper and broccoli are examples of common plants in our life that contain cannabinoids. Cannabinoids are classified so due to the fact that they stimulate the endocannabinoid system (ECS).

The endocannabinoid system (ECS) is a widespread neuromodulatory system that plays important roles in central nervous system (CNS) development, synaptic plasticity (the change that occurs at synapses) and the response to genetic or environmental insults (cause of some kind of physical or mental injury. (I know that’s a little bit complicated, but this is biology) (Lu H., Mackie, K., 2016)

Endocannabinoids and their receptors are found throughout the body, in the brain, organs, connective tissues, glands, and immune cells. With its complex actions in our immune system, nervous system, and virtually all of the body's organs, the endocannabinoids are literally a bridge between body and mind (Bradley E Alger, 2013)

Why is this important for our skin?

Well, the skin is our largest organ in the body and the epidermis has a dense network of to cannabinoid receptors enabling us to absorb CBD very effectively through it.

CBD seems to be very good for your actual skin as well. It has range of benefits the main being anti inflammatory effects, skin hydration, improved elasticity and anti bacterial properties. Studies on the application of CBD on skin disorders like Eczema or psoriasis have shown positive results. Not hard to believe after reading all the benefits stated prior. (Palmieri et al, 2019)

The case for CBD being used to treat anxiety has been made many times in the past. Looking through some of the research you will find that in various anxiety assessments, improved clinical anxiety outcomes were achieved by using CBD. (Skelley et al, 2020)

The vaginal wall is very well suited for the absorption of CBD as it contains a vast network of blood vessels. (Sahoo et al, 2013) This means the CBD will be absorbed quickly by the female and our water soluble CBD affects should be felt during the act of sex.

Let’s talk about sex

Research shows CBD can cause euphoria and heightened sensitivity (Martin et al, 1991). Naturally if something can potentially decrease inflammation, anxiety and increase euphoria and heighten sensitivity it should be good for sex. We don’t think it needs to be more complicated than that.

We should say that we believe CBD is a wonder product with so many benefits. We are inherently biased but that’s alright because you can stay informed as well. We encourage you to stay educated and keep learning, do your own research. Let us know what you find.
